With the arrival of the new federal administration, specifically during the 2018-2024 term, reforms were implemented in various areas seeking to modify the functioning of government bodies and strengthen humanist policies with a new ideology. These reforms have continued into the current 2024-2030 term.
Therefore, the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States was amended regarding organizational simplification, resulting in the elimination of several autonomous constitutional bodies and the transfer of their functions to the federal government through other agencies or ministries.
This article analyzes the reconfiguration of the national transparency system, the reasons that led the federal government to carry out the organizational simplification and include the main body in charge of transparency in our country, the INAI (National LETRAS JURÍDICAS NÚM. 39 OTOÑO SEPTIEMBRE-MARZO 2025-2026, ISSN 1870-2155 3 Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection), the transfer of its functions to the newly created Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance, and whether or not this compromises democracy, as has been discussed in political, media, and academic circles.
